• <br /> <br />Regular Meeting 10/18/72 - continued <br />• <br />Mr. Thrower asked if this duel position might <br />not be in conflict with the City Charter. <br />Mayor Thomas stated that he himself had asked <br />this same question before he was elected to the <br />Commission and asked Mr. Askins to explain the <br />ruling to Mr. Thrower. <br />Mr. Askins stated that Mr. Hovey had only set up <br />bookkeeping proceedures and did not actually keep the <br />books, but only used information furnished him by <br />city hall. <br />+ + + <br />• <br />6. Mayor Thomas stated the next item of business was <br />the clothing alowance for the detective. He stated <br />a city check had been written for $150.00 for a <br />six month clothing allowance for the detective, <br />which makes a yearly allownace of $300.00. There <br />is $1, 850 in the budget for police uniforms, but <br />he was not aware of money budgeted for Mr. Green's <br />clothes. <br /> <br />Bob ThroweL <br />questions <br />hiring <br />Mr. Hovey <br />as auditor <br />Clothing <br />Allowaace <br />For Det. <br />Green <br />Discussed <br />Mayor Thomas stated he did not know what the man did, <br />that as far as he knows Mr. Green does not answer <br />to anyone and further more Mr. Green had had a wreck <br />in the car furnished to him by the city on October 8, <br />and he (Mayor Thomas) did not know of the wreck <br />until October 16, when the car had already been sent <br />out for repairs. Mayor Thomas stated M~'. Green should <br />abide by rules on repairing wrecked cars the same as <br />other employees. <br />Mayor Thomas stated there was another item he wanted <br />to bring out, and that was Mr. Boyle getting a check <br />and signing it himself for expenses to make a trip <br />to Dallas to look at module vehicle ambulances. <br />Comm. Boyle told Mayor Thomas he thought he was out <br />of order. <br />Mayor Thomas stated Mr. Boyle did not get Commission <br />approval to make the trip - also the new fire truck <br />was delivered about 10 days before he (Mayor Thomas) <br />even knew it was here. <br />Comm. Boyle stated he had no further comment to make. <br />• <br />
