~ ~ <br />Regular Meeting 7/2/73 - continued <br />• readily agreed that Houston needed a rapid <br />transit system, but he opposed plans to tax <br />outlying areas without being able to provide <br />them service for 15 to 20 years. <br />Mayor Thomas stated that Mayor Harrison of <br />Pasadena was present at the meeting and that <br />he also spoke in opposition to the plan. <br />Comm. Price stated that he also spoke in <br />opposition to the plan and he proposed that <br />members of the Board be equally appointed, by <br />the City of Houston appointing three, the <br />county appointing three and the outlying <br />cities appointing three, but he said his <br />proposition was not received very favorably. <br />Mr. Jim Smith and Mrs. Lois Compton stated <br />they agreed with Mayor Thomas in opposing <br />the plan. <br />+ + + <br />• 7. Motion by Comm. Price, seconded by Comm. <br />Kibodeaux that the meeting be adjourned.
