This equipment cost totals approximately <br />$1,800.00. <br />After a brief discussion, motion by Commissioner <br />Boyle, seconded by Commissioner Christensen to <br />authorize payment to Ward LaFrance Truck Corp. <br />(Fire Fox) for the invoice for the pumper truck <br />and hold out $5,000.00 retainage until the remaining <br />equipment was delivered. The amount paid was <br />$46#.312.00. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, <br />Price, and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />(C) TITLE CHECK - Motion by Commissioner Price, seconded <br />by Commissioner Kibodeaux to authorize Mayor Thomas <br />Authorize the City Attorney to request a Title Company <br />• to check and see that the streets are closed on the <br />property west of the railroad from the railroad to <br />26th Street and from Crestlane to Spencer Highway; <br />25th and 26th Streets one block south to Spencer <br />Highway. This is property concerned in the large <br />tract of land for consideration of rezoning. Motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, <br />Price, and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />(D) LETTER FROM MAYOR FRED HOFHEINZ - Mayor Thomas <br />read a letter from Mayor Fred Hofheinz of Houston <br />inviting him to represent the City of La Porte and <br />speak at the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular <br />DistrQphy, at KPRC-TV. The letter was dated <br />August 26, mailed Augns~ 30, 1974. The telethon <br />was to be held Monday September 2, 1974. The <br />letter was sent Special Delivery and received, <br />Tuesday September 3, 1974. Needless to say, <br />the Mayor was unable to attend. <br />• <br />
