• <br />Regular Meeting 6/20/77 g <br />6. APPROVAL OF P,000UNTS PAYABLE - Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux, <br />seconded by Commissioner Simons to approve the accounts payable <br />as presented. A copy is attached and made a part of these <br />minutes. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />7. VISITORS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION - MR. JIMMY SPRADLING - <br />3302 Valley Brook Drive '- CITY ORDINANCES - Mr. Spradling was <br />recognized and addressed the Commission regarding various city <br />ordinances. Mr. Spradling was of the opinion that the Commission <br />was granting too many variances to the Zoning Ordinance; and not <br />enforcing several other ones, specifically junk cars, weeds, etc. <br />Consideration should be given to the sanitary sewer facilities <br />and that he felt that with all the expansion of Fairmont Park and <br />the new addition across Spencer would definitely overload the <br />facilities. <br />r1 <br />U <br />+ + + <br />8. CONSIDER VARIP,NCE REQUEST TO ZONING ORDINANCE OF SONIC DRIVE-IN <br />RESTAURANT - LOTS 21, 22, 23, 24, AND 25, BLOCK 36 ,' TOWN OF <br />LA PORTE - Mayor Meza stated that this variance request was to <br />allow a Sonic Drive-In Restaurant to be placed within 100 foot <br />of a residential area. The front half of Block 36 is zoned <br />Commercial and the back half Residential. After a lengthy <br />discussion between the Commission and the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission, this item was tabled to allow the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission to meet with the representatives of the Sonic Drive-In <br />Restaurant and give a recommendation to the Commission. <br />This item was tabled at 7:50 P.M. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission returned a recommendation <br />at 8:00 P.M., that they had no objections to the Drive-In, but <br />felt that property owners within the residential area, within <br />100 feet, should be notified by certified mail, of a hearing <br />where at they might speak for or against the variance. <br />• <br />
