•
Regular Meeting 6/20/77 g
6. APPROVAL OF P,000UNTS PAYABLE - Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux,
seconded by Commissioner Simons to approve the accounts payable
as presented. A copy is attached and made a part of these
minutes. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, and Simons.
NAYS: None.
+ + +
7. VISITORS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION - MR. JIMMY SPRADLING -
3302 Valley Brook Drive '- CITY ORDINANCES - Mr. Spradling was
recognized and addressed the Commission regarding various city
ordinances. Mr. Spradling was of the opinion that the Commission
was granting too many variances to the Zoning Ordinance; and not
enforcing several other ones, specifically junk cars, weeds, etc.
Consideration should be given to the sanitary sewer facilities
and that he felt that with all the expansion of Fairmont Park and
the new addition across Spencer would definitely overload the
facilities.
r1
U
+ + +
8. CONSIDER VARIP,NCE REQUEST TO ZONING ORDINANCE OF SONIC DRIVE-IN
RESTAURANT - LOTS 21, 22, 23, 24, AND 25, BLOCK 36 ,' TOWN OF
LA PORTE - Mayor Meza stated that this variance request was to
allow a Sonic Drive-In Restaurant to be placed within 100 foot
of a residential area. The front half of Block 36 is zoned
Commercial and the back half Residential. After a lengthy
discussion between the Commission and the Planning and Zoning
Commission, this item was tabled to allow the Planning and Zoning
Commission to meet with the representatives of the Sonic Drive-In
Restaurant and give a recommendation to the Commission.
This item was tabled at 7:50 P.M.
The Planning and Zoning Commission returned a recommendation
at 8:00 P.M., that they had no objections to the Drive-In, but
felt that property owners within the residential area, within
100 feet, should be notified by certified mail, of a hearing
where at they might speak for or against the variance.
•
