<br />C <br />• Joint Public Hearing 10/04/78 2 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Meza called the public hearing to order. <br />+ + + <br />2. CONSIDER REZO ING BLOCK 30, BEACH PARK,-HARRIS COUNTY, fiEXAS, <br />FROM RESTDEN''I'IAL TO "C" APARTMENT AND COMMERCIAL - The public <br />hearing was opened and Pat Muston, c airman of the Planning & <br />Zoning Commission read a recommendation that only Lots 1, 2, <br />and 3, Block 30, Beach Park, be rezoned to commercial classifi- <br />cation with limited use. A copy of the recommendation is attached <br />and made a part of these minutes.. <br />Mayor Meza asked if there was anyone else desiring to speak <br />for the rezoning? There was no one. <br />Mayor Meza asked if there was anyone desiring to speak against <br />the rezoning? A letter was read from Mr. Sam K. McLelland <br />opposing the rezoning. A copy of the letter is attached and <br />made a part of these minutes. <br />• Commissioner Cline asked if Mr. McLelland owned property within <br />Block 30? The City Clerk affirmed. <br />Commissioner Tomerlin asked what the Planning & Zoning Commission <br />intended in regard to the recommendation for limited use? The <br />intent was to prohibit the sale of beer and alcohol. It was <br />determined that the Ordinance limited the locations for the <br />sale of on premise consumption. Each individual location would <br />have to have prior approval of the City Commission. <br />There was a brief discussion regarding permitted uses for the <br />property and whether it should be rezoned or remain residential. <br />Motion by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commissioner Simons <br />that the meeting recess for one hour to allow the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission to make a recommendation. <br />Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />The meeting recessed at 7:14 P.M. <br />• ~ The meeting reconvened at 8:00 P.M. <br />
