CONSIDER REZONING BLOCK 30, BEACH PARK (CONTINUED) Planning & Zoning Chairman, Pat Murton, addressed the Commission regarding item 37 and 38 of the commercial classification. The Planning & Zoning Commission would object to the liquor, beer and wine retail sales, lounges, taverns and private clubs and asked that these uses be restricted; and recommended that only Lots 1, 2, and 3, of Beach .Park be rezoned to "C" Apartment and Commercial. Commissioner Simons moved to rezone the entire block of Block 30, Beach Park. Motion died for lack of a second, Commissioner Cline moved to rezone Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 30, Beach Park. Motion died for lack of a second. It was moved by Commissioner Tomerlin, seconded by Commissioner Kibodeaux to deny the request for rezoning. AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin and Kibodeaux. NAYS: Commissioners Cline, Simons, and Mayor Meza, voting to break the tie. • Mr. J. Tarpey was recognized and addressed the Commission stating that the property had been purchased as commercial, it had always been used as commercial property and did not see how the Commission could deny the request. Commissioner Cline stated that she felt that the property was commercial property and that the City had been at fault in overlooking this property and not showing this property as commercial property on the Zoning Map. Motion by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commissioner Tomerlin that Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 30, Beach Park, be rezoned to "C" Apartment and Commercial. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Cline, and Simons. NAYS: Commissioner Kibodeaux. + + + 3.
