CONSIDER REZONING BLOCK 30, BEACH PARK (CONTINUED) <br />Planning & Zoning Chairman, Pat Murton, addressed the <br />Commission regarding item 37 and 38 of the commercial <br />classification. The Planning & Zoning Commission would object <br />to the liquor, beer and wine retail sales, lounges, taverns <br />and private clubs and asked that these uses be restricted; <br />and recommended that only Lots 1, 2, and 3, of Beach .Park be <br />rezoned to "C" Apartment and Commercial. <br />Commissioner Simons moved to rezone the entire block of Block 30, <br />Beach Park. Motion died for lack of a second, <br />Commissioner Cline moved to rezone Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 30, <br />Beach Park. Motion died for lack of a second. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Tomerlin, seconded by Commissioner <br />Kibodeaux to deny the request for rezoning. <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin and Kibodeaux. <br />NAYS: Commissioners Cline, Simons, and Mayor Meza, voting <br />to break the tie. <br />• <br />Mr. J. Tarpey was recognized and addressed the Commission <br />stating that the property had been purchased as commercial, it <br />had always been used as commercial property and did not see how <br />the Commission could deny the request. <br />Commissioner Cline stated that she felt that the property was <br />commercial property and that the City had been at fault in <br />overlooking this property and not showing this property as <br />commercial property on the Zoning Map. <br />Motion by Commissioner Cline, seconded by Commissioner Tomerlin <br />that Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 30, Beach Park, be rezoned to <br />"C" Apartment and Commercial. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Cline, and Simons. <br />NAYS: Commissioner Kibodeaux. <br />+ + + <br />3.
