<br />• Regular Meeting 10/3/79 10 <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS - DANGEROUS BUILDINGS - <br />A. Block 57, E.l/2 Lot l5, all of 18, W.1/2 Lot 19, La Porte - <br />W. V. Sullivan, Estate, 412 West Main - Mr. Talburt stated <br />that he .had met with Mr. Sullivan and that he planned to take <br />out a demolishing permit. Mr. Talburt recommended that the <br />Commission go ahead and make a determination should Mr. Sullivan <br />not come back and get his demolishing permit, then we could proceed. <br />B. Block 58, Lots 11 - 12, La Porte - W. V. Sullivan, Estate, <br />110 North 3rd - Mr. Talburt stated that he had met with <br />Mr. Sullivan and the Heritage Society had sent a letter requesting <br />consideration to grant an extension on the plan to condemn the <br />building. Mr. Talburt stated that he felt if the Commission <br />finds in favor of the Board of Inspection then the Commission may <br />grant a stay and if a stay was granted, that the Heritage Society <br />be required to make a report in writing every thirty days as <br />to their findings, and if at any time they feel that they will <br />not be able to restore the building, that they report this to the <br />Commission so that the proceedings may continue. There was a <br />brief discussion regarding whether or not the building could be <br />moved. Mr. Talburt was of the opinion that it would be too <br />• costly and not advisable. <br />C. Block 79, Lot 14, La Porte - Ms. Shirley Gay Walker, <br />312 North 6th - No one was present. The Assistant Fire <br />Marshal, Mr. Hickenbottom stated that the building was being <br />partially demolished but he didn't know by whom. However it was <br />the recommendation of the Board of Inspections that the procedure <br />should continue as though nothing had been done. <br />D. Block 67, Lots 22 thru 24, La Porte - Ms. Idella Price - <br />215 North 6th - Mr. Hickenbottom stated that there had been <br />no responce from this notice. It had been sent to Detroit. He <br />recommended the building be demolished. <br />E. Block 90, Lots 27 and 28, La Porte - Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson, <br />423 North 5th - No one present. The Board of Inspection <br />recommended that the City tear down the building and file a lein <br />on the property. <br />F. Block 89, Lots 15 and 16, La Porte - Ms. Geraldine Jones, <br />520 West Tyler and 518 West Tyler - Mr. Talburt stated that <br />he had been contact by someone about demolishing the buildings, <br />but they did not have the finances to cover the bond. It was <br />the recommendation of the Board of Inspection that the Commission <br />continue with the process. <br />• <br />
