JOINT DISCUSSION WITH CHARTER REVISION COMMITTEE AND CONSIDER <br />APPROVING A DISTRICTING PLAN FOR THE PROPOSED BOUNDARY LINES <br />FOR DISTRICTS FOR ELECTION OF COUNCILPERSONS UNDER THE PROPOSED <br />REVISIONS TO THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE - <br />CONTINUED) <br />Mayor Meza stated that Mrs.. E. Riley had brought her proposed <br />map for districts for six single member districts and the Mayor <br />at I;arge; we had the public hearing; Mrs. Riley was kind enough <br />to leave the map here for everyone to look at. He further <br />stated that he had wanted all the Committee members to review it. <br />Commissioner Simons asked if the Charter Revision Committee had <br />been notified? The City Clerk affirmed, "yes". <br />Mayor Meza stated that he wanted. all the Committee members to be <br />aware of the two different opinions on the maps. Some of the <br />members were not at the public hearing and he wanted them to <br />acquaint themselves with all the public hearing and the discussions <br />and take it all into consideration and then the Charter Revision <br />Committee come back with a recommendation to the Commission. <br />• Mayor Meza then asked if the Commission had any different opinion <br />than this? <br />Commissioner Tomerlin stated that it was his opinion that the <br />public hearing was completed, but that an alternate proposal <br />had been submitted and it was up to the Commission to send it <br />back to the Charter Revision Committee for review and come back <br />with a recommendation. <br />Commissioner Cline stated that the minutes of the special meeting <br />reflected that: "Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux to meet with <br />the Charter Revision Committee at 6:00 P.M., on October 3, 1979, <br />to further discuss the proposed districting plan". <br />Commissioner Cline stated that if there was further discussion, <br />that would be a continuation of the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Tomerlin stated that he felt that should not be <br />further discussed. <br />Mayor Meza asked if there was any further discussion on this <br />other than referring it to the Charter Revision Committee? <br />Commissioner Cline stated that she knew that Mr. Pfeiffer, Chairman <br />of the Committee, had been out of town the past week on business, <br />• and the Committee should study the two proposals. <br />
