CONSIDER APPROVING PROPOSED ORDINANCE N0. 1172 - ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON A PORTION <br />OF STATE HIGHWAY 146 EAST FRONTAGE ROAD WITHIN THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS FROM BARBOUR'S CUT BOULEVARD TO <br />NORTH "L" STREET - After the proposed ordinance was read in full, <br />motion by Commissioner Tomerlin, seconded by Commissioner Simons <br />to approve Ordinance No. 1172 as read. Motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, and Simons, and Mayor Meza. <br />NAYS: None. <br />CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING <br />CONSTRUCTION ON A PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 146 EAST FRONTAGE <br />ROAD WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, <br />AND PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEED <br />TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00): AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF . <br />• + + + <br />8. CONSIDER AUTHORIZING WORKING WITH FEDERAL DISASTER RELIEF <br />AGENCY FOR GRAP~'I' FUNDS TO REIMBURSE -THE CITY 'FO'R EXPENSES <br />INCURRED FOR DAMAGES TO PUBLIC PROPERTY DURING THE FLOOD OF <br />JULY, 1979 - The Administrator stated that items 8 and 9 <br />were pertaining to the same thing and could have been only <br />one item; there had been $12,000.00 damage to the Fairmont Park <br />Sewer Plant; $12,000.00 damage to pumps and motors, and still <br />no figure on the damage to the roads and highways. The Public <br />Works Department is still working on the estimates for damages <br />to the. roads, and grant funds are available to reimburse the <br />City for expenses incurred for damages to public property during <br />the flood. <br />Motion by Commissioner Simons, seconded by Commissioner Tomerlin <br />to authorize working with the Federal Disaster Relief Agency <br />for grant funds to reimburse the city for expenses incurred for <br />damages to public property during the flood of July, 1979. <br />Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, and Simons, and Mayor Meza. <br />NAYS: None. <br />i <br />• + + + <br />
