Mayor Meza called to order a joint public hearing of the City <br />Council and Planning and Zoning. It was established that a <br />quorum of both bodies was present. Mayor Meza stated this <br />hearing is to consider a request for re-zoning Outlots 450 <br />and 451 from R1 (residential) to commercial. He asked if <br />there were any person present who wished to speak for or <br />against the rezoning of said properties. No one came forward. <br />Michael Powers addressed the Council to state his request in <br />person. <br />Pat Muston, Chairwoman for Planning and Zoning, read the <br />Commission's recommendation favoring the rezoning. <br />City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE <br />NO. 780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE, BY CHANGING <br />THE CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND HEREIN <br />DESCRIBED• AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />• Motion was made by Councilwoman Cline to pass and approve <br />Ordinance No. 780 ZZ, changing the classification of Outlots <br />450 and 451 from R1 to Commercial. The motion was seconded <br />by Councilman Simons. The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />
