City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. <br />780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE, BY CHANGING THE <br />CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND HEREIN DESCRIBED; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Simons to pass and approve <br />Ordinance No. 780 BBB point public hearing duly held on <br />October 22, 1980, and all required notice having been sent) <br />as requested by Roy D. Kaylor for Block 1160. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilwoman Cline. City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING <br />AND CLOSING A PORTION OF CRESCENT DRIVE, IN CRESCENT SHORES <br />SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Simons to pass and approve <br />Ordinance No. 1236 as read. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Kibodeaux. The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />10. Mr. William Jehle, Project Manager for Union Carbide Corpora- <br />tion, requested the de-annexation of the property north of <br />State Highway 225 and West of Strang Road, more commonly known <br />as the Cockburn Estate property, and to designate this property <br />as part of the Battleground Industrial District of La Porte, <br />Texas. Union Carbide wishes to acquire the site to build an <br />industrial gas plant. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin authorizing the Mayor <br />to write a letter (letter is a part of these minutes) agreein <br />to certain things discussed at the October 22nd meeting and <br />fully stated in the attached letter.
