r ~ <br />• Regular Meeting, 11/5/80, Page 7 <br />District was read by City Attorney Askins. A letter was intro- <br />duced received from the City of Shoreacres withdrawing from <br />the agreement. Lengthy discussion followed concerning the <br />City of Morgan's Point's election process. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin to accept the agreement <br />as presented and asking the City of Morgan's Point to stipulate <br />14. Motion was made by Councilman Kibodeaux to award the contract <br />for a self-propelled pneumatic tired roller to Fogle Equip- <br />ment Co. at bid price of $23,950.00 as recommended by the <br />Director of Public Works. The motion was seconded by Council- <br />man Simons. The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />15. Mr. Melton Kuhn, Vice President of Big Three Industries, Inc., <br />appeared before Council in reply to numerous complaints re- <br />. ceived concerning noise emitted by the Big Three Plant on <br />Fairmont Parkway. Mr. Kuhn introduced Dennis Mucha, Safety <br />Director and Sid Peters, Logistics Manager. Mr. Kuhns stated <br />new silencers have been ordered, these devices have been custom <br />built and were ordered on September 22, 1980. They have been <br />shipped on October 31 and should be received on November 7. <br />The plant will be down for approximately 12 to 24 hours while <br />the silencers are being installed and they should be in opera- <br />tion by the 15th of November. Mayor Meza and the Council <br />thanked Mr. Kuhn for his cooperation and for taking time to <br />appear before the City of La Porte Council. <br />16. The City Council discussed setting a date for Public Hearing <br />under the Public Utility Regulatory Act of 1978. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin to set June 24, 1981 <br />as a date for Public Hearing under the Public Utility Regula- <br />tory Act of 1978. The motion was seconded by Councilman Simons. <br />The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />17. Administrative Reports: <br />City Manager Hudgens reported he had had a telephone call from <br />• Gary Anderson, Administrative Assistant with the Texas Municipal <br />Retirement System, stating the TMRS Legal Council has prepared <br />an ordinance that will grant prior service credit to the La Porte <br />employees who previously served with the City of Lomax. <br />by Councilman Simons. The motion carried 3 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Simons <br />Nays: Councilwoman Cline <br />
