In reviewing the minutes of the November 5, 1980, Council <br />Meeting, Councilman Simons stated those minutes did not <br />reflect that a correction had been made in the minutes con- <br />cerning the Mayor's vote. Councilwoman Cline requested <br />the minutes to reflect her reason for abstaining was her <br />absence from that meeting. Councilman Tomerlin stated he, <br />too, wished to have the minutes of the November 5 meeting <br />to reflect his reason for abstaining from voting on the <br />minutes of October 15 was his absence from that meeting. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin to approve the <br />minutes as corrected. Motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Kibodeaux. The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />5. City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDON- <br />ING AND CLOSING ALL OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 173, TOWN OF <br />LA PORTE. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Simons to pass and approve <br />Ordinance No. 1238. Seconded by Councilman Tomerlin. City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE AWARDING AND ALLOW- <br />ING PRIOR SERVICE CREDIT IN THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT <br />SYSTEM TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE WHO WERE <br />EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF LOMAX ON THE DATE OF ITS CONSOLIDA- <br />TION WITH THE CITY OF LA PO RTE FOR THE NUMBER OF YEARS <br />SERVICE SUCH EMPLOYEES HAD WITH THE CITY OF LOMAX PRIOR TO <br />SUCH CONSOLIDATION. <br />A_ motion was made by Councilman Simons to pass and approve <br />Ordinance No. 1240 as read.
