The motion carried, 3 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cline and Simons; Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />7. On recommendation of the Public Works Director, Council con- <br />sidered awarding Highway Equipment Company a bid for a road <br />broom. they submitted last March. Hodge reported that Asphalt <br />Pavers and Supply of Channelview, Texas, was awarded a bid <br />last March on a pull-type road broom. They delivered the frame <br />in July but failed to deliver the broom. After several calls <br />over a period of some eight weeks, Hodge asked them to pick <br />up their frame because it became evident they could not de- <br />liver the broom. Highway Equipment Company was next low bid- <br />der and have advised Hodge they would keep their bid price of <br />$4,600.00, which is well within the allocated funds. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Simons to award the bid for <br />a "Pull Tvpe Road Broom" to Hiahwav Equipment Companv for t <br />amount of $4,600.00. Seconded by Councilwoman Cline. The <br />motion carried, 3 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cline and Simons; Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />8. Mayor Meza stated it is the time once again to designate the <br />City of La Porte representatives to the Houston-Galveston Area <br />Council General Assembly. Motion was made by Councilman <br />Simons to continue in service those representatives presently <br />serving, Councilwoman Cline to serve as the Delegate and <br />Councilman Tomerlin as the Alternate. Seconded by Councilwoman <br />Cline. The motion carried, 3 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cline and Simons; Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />9. Planning and Zoning Chairman Pat Muston appeared before City <br />Council to make a recommendation concerning a proposed project <br />by Trans-Continental Services, Inc., whose representatives met <br />with Planning and Zoning on December 1, 1980, to discuss a <br />tract of land located at the east side of the intersection of <br />State Highway 225 and 146. <br />Their wish is to construct a complete transportation facility <br />on the property to serve Barbour's Cut Terminal. The facility <br />would include storage and repair of oceanic containers, ware- <br />housing, truck terminal, office buildings and rail service. <br />The prospectus indicates a great deal of thought in planning <br />• the facility. Planning and Zoning feels the property is well <br />suited for such use and were prepared to recommend that a <br />special use permit be granted; however, after consultation with <br />
