Meeting called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilman John Tomerlin, Councilman I. J. Kibodeaux, <br />Councilwoman Virginia Cline, Councilman Tom Simons, <br />Councilman Norman L. Malone <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ABSENT: None <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Manager James R. Hudgens, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Betty T. Waters, <br />Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Public Works Director Jerry <br />Hodge, City Engineer John Joerns, Chief Inspector David Paulissen <br />Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Parks Director Stan Sherwood <br />OTHERS PRESENT: Lou Lawler, Dave Corbin, Mike Johnson <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilman Tom Simons <br />3. The minutes of the January 7, 1981, Regular Council Meeting <br />were presented. Motion was made by Councilwoman C-line to <br />approve the minutes ashresented, second by Councilman Tomerlin. <br />The motion carried 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />• Ayes: Councilman Tomerlin, Councilman Kibodeaux, Councilwoman <br />Cline, Councilman Simons <br />Nays: None <br />4. The minutes of the January 14, 1981 Special Called Meeting of <br />the La Porte City Council were presented. Motion was made by <br />Councilman Tomerlin to approve the minutes as presented, second <br />by Councilman Simons. The motion carried 2 Ayes and 0 Nays <br />and 2 abstain. Mayor Meza voted Aye <br />Ayes: Councilman Tomerlin, Councilman Simons, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilwoman Cline(Due to absence from the meeting) <br />Councilman Kibodeaux (Due to absence from the meeting) <br />5. City Attorney Askins read, AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING <br />AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK ELEVEN HUNDRED <br />THREE (1103), IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Simons to approve and adopt <br />Ordinance No. 1246 as read. <br />Councilwoman Cline ask if Greater Houston Lumber and Truss was <br />aware this would not close the entire alley. Askins stated <br />he had discussed the matter with Mr. Berringer. Cline ask if <br />• <br />
