Box 1115 La Porte, Tx. 77571 Dear Commissioners: The purpose of this letter is to introduce you to Pierside Indus- tries Inc., our operation, and our proposed relationship with the city of La Porte, We appear before you in the hope, a favorable determina- tion will 6e rendered in our request for a special use permit, for the property described in our application dated, February 10,.1981. A • special use permit will bring the property into compliance with La~ Porte guide lines so that we may conduct our business, which is: 1. The repair of empty oceanic cargo containers and chassis. 2. The storage of said empty containers and chassis upon complete tion of the repairs. The repair of steel units involves cutting away the damaged area with torches and arc welding new patches or panels in its place, In some instances damages may be repaired by simple hand Hammering. The cut and welded areas are finished 6y priming and painting with spray cans. On aluminum units the damaged areas are cut away with saws, holes are drilled, and new aluminum parts are riveted into place with pneu- matic hammers. A third type of container is the fiberglass reinforced plywood unit. Again the damages are cut away with saws, a new panel is inserted and glassed into place, The patch. is then sanded and painted, From this description you can see the parallel between our business and an auto body repair shpp, the only difference being, our bodies are larger and our finished aren't nearly as exacting. Once the repairs are accomplished, the unit would be stacked on our yard, until the owner calls for it, At that time, the owner or lessee of the container, and or chassis, would dispatch a truck to our location and the needed units would then be transported away,
