Council reviewed the recommendation by Public Works Director <br />Hodge concerning solid waste container bids: <br />Industrial Disposal Supply - $47,475.00 <br />Duncan Equipment - $48,848.00 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Faris to accept the bid sub- <br />mitted by Industrial Disposal Supply and draw up a six (6) <br />month, non-escalating contract for the submitted bid prices <br />for four (4 six (6) and eight (8) cubic yard ront load <br />containers for the Solid Waste Department. Secon ed by <br />Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />6. Mayor Meza read the recommendation from the Tax Assessor/ <br />Collector for the 1981 Board of Equalization appointments. <br />Motion was made b Council erson Malone to acce t the recom- <br />mendation of La Porte Tax Assessor Collector Betty Blackmon <br />• and appoint Fred Beck, Charles D. Boyle an Ra p Mace to <br />serve as the 9 Board o E ualization. Secon ed by Council- <br />person Longley. The motion carried, ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />7. Motion was made by_Councilperson Simons to accept a bid sub- <br />mitted by Russell L. Reeder to purchase Lot #26, Block 28, <br />Town of La Porte for the amount of taxes due of 1,6'1'9.27 <br />(La Porte 1,041.69; school 420.42; County 15 .16 . <br />Seconded by Councilperson Faris. The motion carried, 8 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />8. City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING <br />AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK EIGHT -HUNDRED <br />TWENTY-FOUR (824), IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, <br />TEXAS. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Malone to accept and approve <br />Ordinance No. 1259 as read by City Attorney closing a portion <br />of the alley in Block 824 for A. B. "Jake' Harris. Seconded <br />by Councilperson Westergren.
