<br />• Minutes, Regular Meeting, May 6, 1981, Page 3 <br />9. Council reviewed the revised final draft of the contract <br />documents for Emergency Ambulance Service. Mr. Steve Smith <br />asked to address Council concerning the use of emergency <br />vehicles for hearse service. Smith was advised Section I(3) <br />has covered this subject. Jess Navarro of Baytown Ambulance <br />Service brought to Council's attention the 60" patient com- <br />partment height requirement. After lengthy discussion Council <br />decided to leave the 60" requirement. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to increase the prices <br />charged in Section V Charges Permute Contractor c from <br />5.00 to 10.00 and a from 35.00 to 50.00 and approve the <br />contract documents as revised. Seconded by Councilperson <br />Faris. Council instructed the City Manager to proceed to ad- <br />vertise for bids on the Emergency Ambulance Service. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />10. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to approve Change <br />• Order No. One (1) for Contract IV - Rehabilitation of Sanitary <br />Sewer Collection System (EPA Project No. C-481176-03-0) subject <br />to EPA and Texas Water Resources approval. Seconded by Council- <br />person Westergren. Council advised City Manager Hudgens this <br />Change Order is to be brought back to their attention if, for <br />some reason, EPA and Texas Water Resources should reject it. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />11. Council considered a memo from City Manager Hudgens concerning <br />a blower for aeriation at the La Porte Sewer Plant. Hudgens <br />stated the sewer superintendent received a written quote of <br />$12,000.00 plus, for repair plus removal and installation cost <br />in an 18 week time frame. Since this existing facility will <br />be abandoned with the completion of the new plant, they have <br />investigated alternatives. One alternative is used equipment. <br />Industrial Armature is the only source of the needed equipment <br />at a cost of $6,500.00. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Faris to declare an emer- <br />gency and waive the formal bid process and authorize the purchase <br />of a rebuilt blower from Industrial Armature at a cost of <br />X6,500.00 for the La Porte Sewer Plant. Seconded by Councilperson <br />Malone.
