Administrative Reports: <br />City Secretary presented Change Order No. 2 on the Street <br />Paving and Drainage Improvement (Lomax Bond Program), Con- <br />tractor, McKey Construction and Equipment, Inc. The net <br />increase resulting from this change is $1,407.60, bringing <br />the current contract price including this change order to <br />$1,269,924.80. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Faris approving Change Order <br />No. 2 for the Lomax Street Paving and Drainage Improvement <br />Project. Seconded by Councilperson Westergren. The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />Council was polled concerning a joint meeting date with the <br />La Porte School Board, June 16 at 6:00 P.M. All members of <br />the Council approved that date and the City Secretary was <br />instructed to post an agenda for the meeting. <br />• Director of Public Works Hodge extended an invitation to the <br />entire Council to attend a barbeque Saturday, May 23 at 7:00 P.M. <br />to celebrate the end of "Operation Civic Pride." <br />20. Council Action <br />Each of the Council members expressed their satisfaction with <br />the results of "Operation Civic Pride" and commended Hodge and <br />his employees for their efforts in the clean up campaign. <br />Mayor Meza asked Jesse Garcia to come forward. Mayor Meza <br />and Director of Public Works Jerry Hodge presented a Proclama- <br />tion declaring May 27, 1981, Jesse Garcia Day in the City of <br />La Porte. Mayor Meza stated Garcia has been employed by the <br />City for 29 years in almost every capacity in the Public Works <br />Department. Garcia will retire on June 1, 1981. Those present <br />were invited to attend an open house honoring Garcia on May 27, <br />1981, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at the City Hall. <br />Mayor Meza read Resolution No. 81-8, a Resolution endorsing <br />House Bill 2301 relating to Creation, Administration, Powers, <br />Duties, Operations, and Financing of the Clear Creek Watershed <br />Drainage District. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons <br />to adopt and approve Resolution No. 81-8. Seconded by Council- <br />person Skelton.
