City Attorney Askins read Ordinance No. 1264: AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN <br />STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE FOR THE HARRIS COUNTY <br />LANDFILL. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to approve and accept <br />Ordinance No. 1264 to extend the life of the landfill. <br />Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 9 <br />ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />10. Motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to approve Change <br />Order No. 4 to Lee Rowe Construction Company installing 16 <br />solid core wood doors in the amount of 3,036.00, resulting <br />in a current contract price of 767,763.00. Seconded by <br />Councilperson Malone. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />• Nays: None <br />11. Due to the resignation of Ralph Mace, the Council saw the <br />need to fill that vacancy on the 1981 Board of Equalization. <br />Mayor Meza placed the name of Lawrence J. (Sam) Sailor before <br />the Council. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to ap- <br />point Mr. Lawrence J. Sailor to the 1981 Board of Equaliza- <br />tion. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, <br />9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays : None <br />12. John Joerns of the Engineering Department advised Council <br />that at the time of the Lomax consolidation, Lomax had a <br />Step I grant pending. Last fall, La Porte requested that the <br />Lomax Step I grant be included in La Porte's existing EPA <br />grant. This was done to reduce the lag time between Step I <br />and II funding. <br />The request to amend La <br />Lomax has been approved <br />amount is $155,663.00. <br />($38,916.00). Joerns a <br />the Grant Agreement and <br />the agreement. <br />Porte's Step I EPA grant to include <br />by TD[aR and EPA. The total grant <br />La Porte's share is 25 percent <br />eked the Council to formally accept <br />authorize the City Manager to execute <br />C. <br />
