City Attorney Askins read Ordinance No. 1264: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE FOR THE HARRIS COUNTY LANDFILL. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to approve and accept Ordinance No. 1264 to extend the life of the landfill. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza Nays: None 10. Motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to approve Change Order No. 4 to Lee Rowe Construction Company installing 16 solid core wood doors in the amount of 3,036.00, resulting in a current contract price of 767,763.00. Seconded by Councilperson Malone. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza • Nays: None 11. Due to the resignation of Ralph Mace, the Council saw the need to fill that vacancy on the 1981 Board of Equalization. Mayor Meza placed the name of Lawrence J. (Sam) Sailor before the Council. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to ap- point Mr. Lawrence J. Sailor to the 1981 Board of Equaliza- tion. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza Nays : None 12. John Joerns of the Engineering Department advised Council that at the time of the Lomax consolidation, Lomax had a Step I grant pending. Last fall, La Porte requested that the Lomax Step I grant be included in La Porte's existing EPA grant. This was done to reduce the lag time between Step I and II funding. The request to amend La Lomax has been approved amount is $155,663.00. ($38,916.00). Joerns a the Grant Agreement and the agreement. Porte's Step I EPA grant to include by TD[aR and EPA. The total grant La Porte's share is 25 percent eked the Council to formally accept authorize the City Manager to execute C.
