Council considered the recommendation of John Joerns, head <br />of Engineering, for Project No. 80-9 - 15 inch sanitary <br />sewer to the Service Center and 26th Street. <br /> <br />The bid was divided into two parts. Bid schedule "A" is <br />for construction of the 15 inch sanitary sewer line to <br />23rd Street. Schedule "B" is for construction of the 15 <br />inch sanitary sewer from 23rd Street to 26th Street, which <br />is to be funded by private developers. <br /> <br />The low bid (all bids as tabulated are a part of these <br />minutes) was submitted by David Wight Construction of <br />Friendswood, Texas. Joerns recommended that the bid be <br />awarded to David Wight Construction for the total project <br />if all necessary arrangements have been made with the pri- <br />vate developers; otherwise, that the low bidder be awarded <br />a contract for part "A" only. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Council~erson Skelton to award the <br />contract for the 15 inch sanltary sewer to David Wight <br />Construction in the amount of $85,667.00 subject to negoti- <br />ations with the private developer; however, should diffi- <br />culties in negotiations arise the award is to be for Part A <br />(construction of the 15 inch sewer line to 23rd Street only) . <br />Seconded by Councilperson Simons. The motion carried, 9 ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />20. <br /> <br />Joerns presented a request for change order #5 on the Lomax <br />Street Bond Project. Change order #5 is for material to <br />fill definite bumps between the roadbed and driveway which <br />will result in a more rapid deteriorationof the road. The <br />estimate for 8,850 square yards of limestone to tie in <br />the driveways on North P Street is a cost of $4,053.00. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to approve <br />Change Order #5 for the Lomax Street Bond Project in the <br />amount of $4,053.00, leaving a contingency of $6,086.00. <br />Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, <br />9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpsersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />
