• <br />• <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting and Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council, July 21, 1982, Page 2 <br />Lou Lawler - 1400 North 10th - appeared as the Civic Affairs <br />Chairman of the La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce. <br />Lawler requested Council to consider $15,000.00 being set <br />aside for the "La Porte Beautification Program." This pro- <br />gram includes entry signs at the City limits and landscaping <br />for the major entryways of the City. Lawler further re- <br />quested the Council to remember the new Christmas lighting <br />started in 1981 and set aside $5,000.00 for continuing that <br />program. <br />Susan Hodgson of the Baytown Area Women's Center appeared <br />before Council requesting $6,600.00 be set aside to support <br />the Center. Hodgson gave a brief review of the Center's <br />function. <br />There being no further response to the Mayor's call for <br />citizen input, the public hearing was closed at 7:15 P.M. <br />5. City Attorney Askins requested an executive session at this <br />time to discuss a legal matter with the Council. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adjourn into <br />executive session. Second by Counci person Matuszak. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Westergren, Skelton, Gay, Pfeiffer, <br />Graves, Matuszak, Longley, Malone, Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Council returned to the Countil table at 7:35 P.M. <br />6. Council considered re-bidding the remaining work on the <br />rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer collection system. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to authorize the <br />re-bidding of the remaining sanitary sewer rehabilitation <br />work. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 <br />ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes; Councilpersons Westergren, Skelton, Gay, Pfeiffer, <br />Graves, Matuszak, Longley, Malone and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Mayor Cline asked for a brief break in the agenda that she <br />might recognize two citizens who had returned for a visit to <br />La Porte. They are presently making their home in London, <br />• England: Bob and Reba Felscher. Mayor Cline presented them <br />with a seagull pin, the City logo. <br />
