• • Minutes, Regular Meeting and Public Hearing La Porte City Council, July 21, 1982, Page 2 Lou Lawler - 1400 North 10th - appeared as the Civic Affairs Chairman of the La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce. Lawler requested Council to consider $15,000.00 being set aside for the "La Porte Beautification Program." This pro- gram includes entry signs at the City limits and landscaping for the major entryways of the City. Lawler further re- quested the Council to remember the new Christmas lighting started in 1981 and set aside $5,000.00 for continuing that program. Susan Hodgson of the Baytown Area Women's Center appeared before Council requesting $6,600.00 be set aside to support the Center. Hodgson gave a brief review of the Center's function. There being no further response to the Mayor's call for citizen input, the public hearing was closed at 7:15 P.M. 5. City Attorney Askins requested an executive session at this time to discuss a legal matter with the Council. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adjourn into executive session. Second by Counci person Matuszak. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Westergren, Skelton, Gay, Pfeiffer, Graves, Matuszak, Longley, Malone, Mayor Cline Nays: None Council returned to the Countil table at 7:35 P.M. 6. Council considered re-bidding the remaining work on the rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer collection system. A motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to authorize the re-bidding of the remaining sanitary sewer rehabilitation work. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes; Councilpersons Westergren, Skelton, Gay, Pfeiffer, Graves, Matuszak, Longley, Malone and Mayor Cline Nays: None Mayor Cline asked for a brief break in the agenda that she might recognize two citizens who had returned for a visit to La Porte. They are presently making their home in London, • England: Bob and Reba Felscher. Mayor Cline presented them with a seagull pin, the City logo.
