• <br />• MINUTES <br />OF THE <br />REGULAR MEETING OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 20, 1982 <br />1. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Cline at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br />Councilpersons John Longley, Edward Matuszak, Kevin Graves, <br />Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Westergren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: Councilperson Norman <br />Malone <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Betty Waters, <br />Director of Administrative Services Bob Herrera, Assistant <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Chief Inspector <br />David Paulissen, Chief Accountant Dortha Gray., Code Enforce- <br />ment inspectors Lamar Hollaway, Ervin Griffith, and Mark <br />• Lewis, Accounting personnel Betty Whitten, Judy Mathews <br />and Nell Lange. <br />Others Present: Four representatives of the press, 12 <br />interested citizens, and Representative Ed Watson <br />2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Askins <br />3. The Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />the La Porte City Council held October 6, 1982. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to accept and <br />approve the minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Westergren, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />4. Mayor Cline recognized the Accounting Department of the City <br />for their outstanding efforts in obtaining the International <br />Institute of Municipal Accounting`s highest award, the <br />"Certificate of Conformance." Those representing the Ac- <br />counting Department were Chief Accountant Dortha Gray and <br />members of her staff, Betty Whitten, Judy Mathews and Nell <br />• Lange. <br />
