Mayor Cline extended special recognition to the Code <br />Enforcement Department for their outstanding efforts to <br />make La Porte a better place to live. Mayor Cline con- <br />gratulated David Paulissen for having the only such de- <br />partment in the State of Texas where all inspectors are <br />State certified. A certificate of appreciation was pre- <br />sented to the department. <br />6. Mayor Cline named the Public ~nlorks Employee of the Month, <br />Larry Wright and thanked him for his efforts to do his <br />best job for the City. <br />7. A letter was read from Busch, Hutchison & Associates in <br />reference to the bids received on the Sewer Rehabilitation <br />Project No. C-481176-03-0. They stated the apparent low <br />bidder was Reliance Construction, Inc., in the amount of <br />$552,392.50. They are in the process of checking the <br />background and references at this time, and are not pre- <br />pared to make a recommendation. <br />8. Council considered the recommendation by Graduate Engineer <br />• John Joerns for the City to participate in the oversizing <br />of a sanitary sewer line extension to service Kindercare <br />on Myrtle Creek Road. The City's cost to increase from <br />6" to 8" would be $709.10. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to authorize <br />the oversizing of the sanitary sewer line to service Kinder- <br />care on Myrtle Cree Road from a 6" to an 8" line. The <br />amount of 709.10 to be paid from the T~ater and Sewer Improve- <br />ment Fund. Second by Councilperson Matuszak. The motion <br />carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Westergren, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />9. Council considered the sale of the frame building, formerly <br />the City of La Porte Public Works office building located <br />at 404 West Fairmont Parkway, containing four (4) rooms and <br />a bathroom. The Bill of Sale was read by the City Attorney. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Graves to authorize the <br />sa e o t e ormer pu is wor s office ui1 ing to the Port <br />of Houston Aut ority to be placed on land which .has been- <br />ease y t e Port Authority to the Houston International <br />Seamen's Center, Inc. Second by Councilperson Matuszak. The <br />motion Carrie 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
