The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cline at 7:05 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br />Councilpersons Norman Malone, John Longley, Ed Matuszak, <br />Kevin Graves, Lindsay Pfeiffer, B. Don Skelton, Linda Westergren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: Councilperson Deotis Gay <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Attorney. John Arm- <br />strong, Assistant City Secretary Cherie Black, Director of <br />Administrative Services Bob Herrera, Director of Public Works <br />Jerry Hodge, Chief Building Official David Paulissen, Graduate <br />Engineer John Joerns, Director of Parks and Recreation Stanley <br />Sherwood, Assistant Fire Chief John Dunham <br />Others Present: Gordon Black; Tracy Brannon, Kim Hardin and <br />John Salazar, Royal Ballet Theater of Texas; Linda Wingo and <br />Marilyn Hickenbottom, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Frieda Beaty, <br />Baytown Sun; Jeff Patterson,. Southeast Weekly; Melissa Lestar- <br />jette and Linda Castleberry, Bayshore Sun and Broadcaster; <br />31 interested citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Norman Malone. <br />3. Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the <br />La Porte City Council held April 6, 1983. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to accept the <br />minutes. Corrections by Councilpersons Longley and Graves <br />were requested as follows: <br />Under "Emergency Addendum": <br />"The motion was made to discontinue any further discussion on <br />the matter in Council session, to waive the two-day limitation <br />of appeal on the electrical code, and to direct the staff to <br />get with the owner of the building and also the prospective <br />renters to work out a solution. <br />Motion for executive session was made by Councilperson Wester- <br />gren. Second by Longley." <br />
