The Mayor proclaimed "National Dance Week, April 24-30, 1983." 5a. Gordon Black addressed~City~Council rega~dingl~.the 1986,Sesque- centennial Celebration and how the City of La Porte can qualify as a Texas Independence Community and participate in the Sesquecentennial celebration. 6. Mayor Cline called the Public Hearing regarding amendments to Articles 7 and 13 of Ordinance 780, the City of La Porte Zoning Ordinance, to order. Assistant City Attorney Armstrong summarized the. changes in the ordinance. Questions from the Council were answered by Assistant City Attorney Armstrong and Chief Building Official David Paulissen. The City Attorney read: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 7, SECTION 7-100, et. seq., OF ORDINANCE NO. 780,. THE CITY OF LA PORTS ZONING ORDINANCE, PROVIDING NEW DEFINITIONS OF MANU- FACTURING, SHIPPING CONTAINER STORAGE YARDS, TRUCKS, TRUCK TERMINALS, TRUCK WASHES, FREIGHT, FREIGHT TERMINALS, OPEN TERRACE, AUTOMOTIVE WRECKING AND SALVAGE YARD, AND SCRAP METAL PROCESSORS; FURTHER AMENDING ARTICLE 13, SECTION 13-404(4)(c) REMOVING THE SQ. FEET OF LOT AREA-PER GROUND FLOOR MULTIPLE UNITS PER ACRE DENSITY LIMITATION; FURTHER AMENDING ARTICLE 13, SECTION 505(2), TO REQUIRE AUTOMOTIVE WRECKING AND SALVAGE YARDS, AND SCRAP METAL PROCESSORS TO BE LOCATED ON NAND ZONED INDUSTRIAL, FURTHER RDQUIRING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR SAID USES; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE .THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE. OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC- TIVE DATE HEREOF.
