Second y Counci~person Graves. T e <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Skelton,. Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />-Nays: None <br />4. The Mayor proclaimed April 30, T983, as "Beta Sigma Phi Day." <br />5. The Mayor proclaimed "National Dance Week, April 24-30, 1983." <br />5a. Gordon Black addressed~City~Council rega~dingl~.the 1986,Sesque- <br />centennial Celebration and how the City of La Porte can qualify <br />as a Texas Independence Community and participate in the <br />Sesquecentennial celebration. <br />6. Mayor Cline called the Public Hearing regarding amendments to <br />Articles 7 and 13 of Ordinance 780, the City of La Porte Zoning <br />Ordinance, to order. <br />Assistant City Attorney Armstrong summarized the. changes in the <br />ordinance. <br />Questions from the Council were answered by Assistant City <br />Attorney Armstrong and Chief Building Official David Paulissen. <br />The City Attorney read: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 7, <br />SECTION 7-100, et. seq., OF ORDINANCE NO. 780,. THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTS ZONING ORDINANCE, PROVIDING NEW DEFINITIONS OF MANU- <br />FACTURING, SHIPPING CONTAINER STORAGE YARDS, TRUCKS, TRUCK <br />TERMINALS, TRUCK WASHES, FREIGHT, FREIGHT TERMINALS, OPEN <br />TERRACE, AUTOMOTIVE WRECKING AND SALVAGE YARD, AND SCRAP METAL <br />PROCESSORS; FURTHER AMENDING ARTICLE 13, SECTION 13-404(4)(c) <br />REMOVING THE SQ. FEET OF LOT AREA-PER GROUND FLOOR MULTIPLE <br />UNITS PER ACRE DENSITY LIMITATION; FURTHER AMENDING ARTICLE 13, <br />SECTION 505(2), TO REQUIRE AUTOMOTIVE WRECKING AND SALVAGE <br />YARDS, AND SCRAP METAL PROCESSORS TO BE LOCATED ON NAND ZONED <br />INDUSTRIAL, FURTHER RDQUIRING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR SAID <br />USES; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL <br />UPON CONVICTION BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE .THAN TWO HUNDRED <br />DOLLARS ($200.00); FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE. OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC- <br />TIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
