The public hearing on dangerous buildings and regular <br />meeting of the La Porte City Council was called to order <br />by Mayor Cline at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br />Councilpersons Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, <br />Linda Westergren, Norman Malone, John Longley, Ed Matuszak <br />and Kevin Graves <br /> <br />Members of the City Council Absent: None <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Secretary Cherie <br />Black, Director of Administrative Services Bob Herrera, <br />Chief Building Official David paulissen, Building Inspector <br />Mark Lewis, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Director of <br />Public Works Jerry Hodge, Police Chief Herb Freeman, Gradu- <br />ate Engineer John Joerns, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Stan Sherwood, Chief Accountant Debra Cole <br /> <br />Others Present: Jimmie Ray Spradling; Paula Bridges; <br />Linda Castleberry, Bayshore Sun-Broadcaster; David Byford, <br />Bay town Sun; 15 interested citizens <br /> <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Gay <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting held September 7, 1983. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Malone. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, <br />Malone, Longley, Matuszak and Graves <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Mayor Cline, due to her being out of the City <br />on that date <br /> <br />. <br />
