The motion Carrie ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Matuszak, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Wester- <br />gren, Malone and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Graves, who had arrived at the Council <br />table at 7:31 and had not heard the complete presenta- <br />tion of the agenda item. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance closing a portion of West "K" <br />and South 9th Street. <br />It was explained that this portion of the streets had been <br />inadvertently left out of the ordinances originally closing <br />these streets. <br />City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING <br />AND CLOSING A PORTION OF WEST "K" STREET AND SOUTH 9TH STREET, <br />• CONTAINING A TRACT OF LAND 30 FEET BY 39'.5 FEET, CONTAINING <br />0.0272 ACRES; RETAINING PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENTS; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC- <br />TIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to adopt Ordinance 1402 <br />as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Pfeiffer. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, <br />Westergren, Malone and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />7. Council considered an ordinance granting a.pipeline permit~to <br />Gulf Oil Corporation. <br />City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A PERMIT <br />UNDER SECTION 18-A-3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 915, "PIPELINE TRANS- <br />PORTATION," BEING CHAPTER 18-A OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; AND APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF <br />GULF OIL CORPORATION DATED MARCH 5, 1984, TO CONSTRUCT A SIX <br />INCH (6") PROPYLENE PIPELINE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Matuszak to adopt~Ordinance <br />915-V as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />• Malone. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
