• • <br />• <br />THE QUEST HOME ENERGY ANALYSIS <br />Basic Program Description <br />- QUEST (Quick Energy Savings Test) is a new and unique self- <br />administered residential energy audit. This home energy <br />analysis will be performed with information provided directly <br />from the consumer on a standard fourteen question form. <br />- The information will be compared with similar and energy- <br />efficient households in the customer's area. The comparative <br />information along with low cost/no cost recommendations will <br />be returned to the homeowners to help them identify areas where <br />they can exercise .more. control~.over their energy costs. <br />Special Program Benefits <br />- This self-conducted audit is particularly appealing to those <br />customers who either do not have the time for the lengthy <br />Residential Conservation Service (RCS) audit or do not prefer <br />to have an HL&P inspector visit their homes. <br />- The QUEST audit may be used by itself to provide personalized <br />written conservation guidelines or it may be used in conjunction <br />with the Walk-Through Audit Program. <br />• - Unlike other audit results, the QUEST analysis provides a <br />comparison between a particular customer's home, a hypo- <br />thetically similar home, and an energy efficient home with a <br />comparable mix of appliances, number of family members, and <br />square footage. No other program provides our customers such a <br />baramoter with which to gauge and compare their energy consumption <br />patterns. <br />Targeted Participation <br />- Our goal is to perform 50,000 QUEST analyses for those customers <br />whose needs would best be met by this particular audit procedure. <br />Possible Long Term Program Applications <br />Extended beyond the time period of the Governor's Plan, this <br />program could be effectively employed for the following purposes: <br />- The short form QUEST analyses may be employed at seminars, <br />workshops, and as a part of any education outreach programming. <br />- It provides HL&P with another viable technique for helping to <br />resolve high bill complaints. <br />• <br />
