Mayor Cline proclaimed May 8, 1984, as "Retired Senior <br />Volunteer Program Recognition Day". Mr. J. R. Ensminger <br />accepted the proclamation. <br />6. May 6 through 12, 1984, was proclaimed by Mayor Cline as <br />"Hospital Week". Lynn Gaines and Ben Vitto of.Beltway Hospital <br />were present to accept the proclamation. <br />7. Mayor Cline proclaimed May 11, 1984, as "La Porte Community <br />Night" at the Astrodome. Stan Sherwood, Director of the <br />Parks & Recreation Department, accepted the proclamation and <br />urged participation of the public at this event. <br />8. Mayor Cline asked for anyone having bids for cleaning, tele- <br />vision inspection and point repairs for portions of sanitary <br />sewer collection system for the City of La Porte EPA Project <br />Number C-481176=03-0, to please submit them at this time. <br />There were none; opening of bids that~had been received in <br />the City Secretary's office were then presented. <br />• The City Secretary opened the bids, which were then read by <br />Frank Marino of Turner Collie & Braden, Inc., as follows: <br />(1) Reliance Construction, Inc., of Houston - $313,981.50 <br />(2) Channel Construction Co., Inc., of Channelview - $329,620.00 <br />(3) Baytown Construction, Inc., of Beaumont - $129,325.50 <br />Mr. Marino will tabulate the bids and present them to Council. <br />9. Council considered the request of the Ambulance Service for <br />new units. <br />Mayor Cline read a letter from the Board of Directors and <br />officers of the ambulance service recommending the approval <br />by Council of the purchase of three new, 1984, ambulances <br />described in proposition l; that the City of ~La Porde endorse <br />the incurrence of additional debt to~~purchase these vehicles <br />on behalf of the~La Porte Area Emergency Corps; that this debt <br />be for three years and incorporate the debt currently outstanding <br />on Unit #502, for a total of $81,000. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to approve the request <br />of the Ambulance Service for new units.'
