<br /> <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />July 18, 1984, Page 7 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to accept staff's <br />recommendation and award the bid for street materials to <br />Parker Brothers for hot mix and~.black base and to Radcliff <br />Material for hot mix-cold laid asphalt, and award a con- <br />tingency contract to Radcliff Material for hot mix and <br />black base should Parker be unable to perform during the <br />life of the contract. Second by Councilperson Graves. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Skelton, Westergren, Malone, Longley, <br />Matuszak, Graves, Gay and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />17. Council considered a resolution appointing a chairman of the <br />Sesquicentennial Committee. <br />Mayor Cline reported that all the necessary information was <br />not ready to act on at this time and requested this item be <br />postponed. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to table this item. <br />Second by Councilperson Malone. The motion carried, 8 ayes and <br />• 0 nays . <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Skelton, Westergren, Malone, Longley, <br />Matuszak, Graves, Gay and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />18. Administrative Reports <br />Mr. Herrera reported that the City of Paris, Texas, visited <br />our computer site, and that the City of Friendswood would be <br />here July 19. The City of Ft. Walton, Florida will visit <br />possibly August 15 or 16, and the City of Ft. Walton would <br />like their City Manager to meet with our City Manager. <br />19. Council Action <br />Westergren: Asked, in regard to the Lakeland Group, if the <br />City had heard anything from the Subsidence District in regard <br />to the pumping of water. Mr. Herrera replied that we have not <br />heard anything back from them. Asked if we contacted them <br />and asked for comments. Mr. Herrera replied he has conferred <br />with Jack Owen for their response. <br />Longley: Mayor, I would like to defer my comments to you. <br />Matuszak: Did we learn anything about the signal lights on <br />• Farrington and Spencer? Understood that the County h~d ap- <br />proved that light - the funding of it. Asked Mr. Herrera to <br />check on it. <br />
