Second by Councilperson <br />Bridges. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Bridges, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />Council considered authorizing payment for emergency purchase <br />of electric motor for Fairmont Park Water well number 1. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Assistant Director of Public Works Luther Maxey explained <br />that on September 21st, lightning struck the electric motor <br />at water well #1 in Fairmont Park. The power surge was so <br />intense that the lightning arrestors were blown and still <br />power was passed into the motor. The copper windings were <br />melted and the internal case was heat cracked in numerous <br />places. The estimated total cost of the new electric motor <br />is $8,200.00 and that funds could be transferred from the <br />Water/Wastewater Contingency Fund to the Water Operation <br />Fund to purchase and install the new motor. <br /> <br />Motion was made by CounQilperson Weste~L.t.Q-2QQ~~ <br />authorize Qgymen1-fQ~mergency QYrcha~ of elec1L~Q.t.QL <br />for Fairmon.t.-EarK-wateL-Hell #1. The motion was amended to <br />include the transfer from Water/Wastewater Contingency Fund <br />to the Water Operations Fund. Second by Councilperson Malone <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Bridges, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />22.
