He stated that he respectfully requests <br />the Council to approve his rezoning so that construction <br />may proceed. He then showed Council a plat of the area. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline stated that this area on Spencer is <br />predominately commercial and stated that possibly some <br />permanent zoning needs to be established for this strip <br />of land. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline asked if anyone wished to speak in fav~r of the <br />rezoning. Several citizens were present to speak in favor of <br />rezoning the whole strip commercial along Spencer Highway. <br />Those persons speaking were Vivian Covington, Russell French, <br />Joe Hicks, William Bower, Glen Tolar, and R. W. Bramley. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline thanked Mr. Alexander and closed the public <br />hearings. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline then stated that City Secretary Black had the <br />recommendations on all the above subjects from the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission. Mayor Cline then asked City Secretary <br />Black to read the recommendations aloud. A copy of those <br />recommendations is attached as part of these minutes. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Council considered adopting Ordinance 780-DDDD to rezone Block <br />643, Lots 1-32, 'from commercial to industrial. <br /> <br />City Attorney Askins read: ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 780 <br />LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION OF <br />THAT CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND DESCRIBED IN THIS REQUEST. <br /> <br />Motion-was made-12.LCouncll~~-Hestergr~-Lo adopt <br />Ordinance 780-DDDD as read. Second by Councilperson Pfeiffer. <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Bridges, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10.
