There was extensive damage to the traffic control signals and the controller system. Emergency repairs amounted to $8,518.25. The controller system is an analog system and is not manufactured any longer. This creates problems for emergency repair due to parts not being available except by salvaging from old units. Staff is asking for a digital system to replace the analog system, at a cost of $7,400. After brief questions, motion was made bv Councilnerson MatQ~ to accent staff's recommendation and annrove emer~p.ncv renair of traffic signals and uograde of controller svste~ at the. intersection of State Hi~hwav 146 and Barbour's Cut Boulevard. and to transfer $1S.Q18.28 from the Contin~p.~cv fund to covp.~ the cost. Second by Councilperson Matuszak. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Bridges, Matuszak, \.Jaters, Pfeiffer, Skelton, Westergren and Malone Nays: None 18. Council considered an ordinance updating Texas Municipal . Retirement System service credits. Councilperson Waters withdrew from participation on this item. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1423 - AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, "UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS" IN SAID SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEM WHO PRESENTLY ARE IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED PRIOR AND CURRENT SERVICE ANNUITIES FOR RETIREES AND BENEFICIARIES OF DECEASED RETIREES OF THE CITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SUCH ACTIONS.
