I <br />• Minutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />May 13, 1985, Page 2 <br />Mr. William Franks, representing the child care facility <br />planning to locate on the property, addressed the questions <br />from Mr. French's letter and from Council. <br />The Mayor asked for anyone wishing to speak in opposition to <br />the rezoning to come forward. There was no response. <br />The Mayor declared the public hearing closed and requested the <br />City Secretary to read the recommendation of the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission. The Planning and Zoning Commission <br />recommended that the zoning request be approved. <br />4. Council considered approving the minutes of the public hearing <br />and regular meeting held April 17, 1985. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes of April 17 ashresented. Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />• Ayes: Councilpersons Walker, Lloyd, Matuszak, Waters, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />5. Council considered approving the minutes of the special called <br />meeting held April 29, 1985. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to approve the minutes <br />of April 29 as presented. Second by Councilperson Westergren. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Walker, Lloyd, Waters, Pfeiffer, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone • <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Matuszak (was not present at meeting <br />of April 29) <br />Councilperson Matuszak read a statement regarding his <br />residency in the City. He asked, as a personal priviledge, <br />for a 10 minute recess to discuss the issue with any <br />individual who might be present and wished to talk with him. <br />• <br />J <br />
