The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Delbert Walker, John Lloyd, Ed Matuszak, Betty <br />Waters, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Linda <br />Westergren <br />,embers of City Counc,~ Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager Richard Hare, Chief Building Official David <br />Paulissen, Purchasing Agent Jackson Ray, Finance Officer Tom <br />Keilman, Acting Police Chief Robert Hall, Director of <br />Community Development John Joerns, Fire Chief Joe Sease, <br />Assistant Fire Chief John Dunham, Director of Public Works <br />Jerry Hodge <br />Qthers Present: Doug Latimer; Bob Bishop; Charles Hargrave; <br />Cynthia Alexander; Andy Wilson; Dave Fetzer and Pete Fisher, <br />Moroney & Beissner; representatives from the Volunteer Fire <br />Department; representatives from the Veterans of Foreign Wars; <br />John Paul Zemanek; representatives from the La Porte Community <br />Civic Club; Pam Smith, Bayshore Sun; approximately 16 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Askins. <br />3. Public Hearing - request to allow duplex in R-2 zone - Block <br />983, N. 1/2 of lot 25 and all of lots 26-28. <br />Mayor Malone called the public hearing to order, and asked for <br />anyone wishing to speak in favor of the request to come <br />forward. There was no response. He then asked for anyone <br />wishing to speak in opposition to the request to come forward. <br />Again, there was no response. <br />Chief Building Official addressed Council regarding this <br />request, since the applicant, Ms. Margaret Conner, is out of <br />state. <br />
