Council considered an ordinance for the City of La Porte to <br />join coalition of cities with original jurisdiction regarding <br />Hnu~t~n Li~htin~ and Power Rates. <br />The City Attorney explained the steps necessary to take this <br />action. First, a Stipulation must be passed, agreeing to the <br />dismissal of HL&P's appeal from the rate action of the City; <br />then a Joint Motion to Dismiss Appeal must be passed; and <br />finally, the rate ordinance needs to be adopted. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1502 - AN ORDINANCE <br />RELATING TO RATES TO BE CHARGED BY HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER <br />COMPANY FOR ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; CONTAINING FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER <br />AND FOR SEVERABILITY; AND FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW. <br />
