Mayor Malone proclaimed Police Week, Public Works Week, and <br />appreciation to the Optimist Club for sponsoring the CHICKEN <br />Club. <br /> <br />6. Mr. Lee Allen and Mr. Blake Page, representing the La Porte <br />Soccer Association, presented Council with a check in the <br />amount of $700 to help the Parks and Recreation Department <br />maintain the soccer field in Fairmont park. They were very <br />appreciative of the City's efforts, and wished to show their <br />support. <br /> <br />7. The SWA Group presented a slide presentation of the schematic <br />plans for Little Cedar Bayou Park. They reported that <br />everything is on schedule, within budget, bids will be going <br />out in July, and construction should start about the end of <br />August or the first part of September. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Council <br />Street. <br />Skelton <br />Skelton <br /> <br />considered an ordinance closing a portion of Montana <br />This ordinance had been tabled by Councilperson <br />at the meeting of June 23, 1986. Councilperson <br />placed the ordinance back on the agenda for action. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an emergency addendum to the agenda, which <br />stated there would be an executive session on a legal item: <br />Discuss with City Attorney possible claim on street closing. <br />The executive session was called to begin after the <br />completion of item 8, and pertained only to item 9. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1495 - AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THAT PORTION OF MONTANA <br />STREET BEING AN EIGHTY (80') FOOT RIGHT-OF-WAY, TOWN OF LA <br />PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Councilperson Matuszak to adopt Ordinance <br />14QS as read by the Citv Attorney. Second by Councileprson <br />Clarke. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Skelton to amend the motion <br />to stipulate in the Ordinance that if the Church ever sold <br />the property the City would charge the new owners for the <br />alley. Second by Councilperson Gay. <br />
