Mayor Malone proclaimed Police Week, Public Works Week, and appreciation to the Optimist Club for sponsoring the CHICKEN Club. 6. Mr. Lee Allen and Mr. Blake Page, representing the La Porte Soccer Association, presented Council with a check in the amount of $700 to help the Parks and Recreation Department maintain the soccer field in Fairmont park. They were very appreciative of the City's efforts, and wished to show their support. 7. The SWA Group presented a slide presentation of the schematic plans for Little Cedar Bayou Park. They reported that everything is on schedule, within budget, bids will be going out in July, and construction should start about the end of August or the first part of September. 8. Council Street. Skelton Skelton considered an ordinance closing a portion of Montana This ordinance had been tabled by Councilperson at the meeting of June 23, 1986. Councilperson placed the ordinance back on the agenda for action. The Mayor read an emergency addendum to the agenda, which stated there would be an executive session on a legal item: Discuss with City Attorney possible claim on street closing. The executive session was called to begin after the completion of item 8, and pertained only to item 9. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1495 - AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THAT PORTION OF MONTANA STREET BEING AN EIGHTY (80') FOOT RIGHT-OF-WAY, TOWN OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made bY Councilperson Matuszak to adopt Ordinance 14QS as read by the Citv Attorney. Second by Councileprson Clarke. Motion was made bv Councilperson Skelton to amend the motion to stipulate in the Ordinance that if the Church ever sold the property the City would charge the new owners for the alley. Second by Councilperson Gay.
