Second by <br />Councilperson Skelton. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to adopt Ordinance <br />15QQ. Second by Councilperson Lloyd. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1566 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS <br />MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, "UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS" IN <br />SAID SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF <br />SUCH SYSTEM WHO PRESENTLY ARE IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR INCREASED PRIOR AND <br />CURRENT SERVICE ANNUITIES FOR RETIREES AND BENEFICIARIES OF <br />DECEASED RETIREES OF THE CITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SUCH ACTIONS. <br /> <br />The vote was taken and the motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />8. Council considered approving Ordinance 1567 adopting Senate <br />Bill 505 provisions. This item was tabled by Councilperson <br />Porter at the meeting of November 23. <br /> <br />Councilperson Porter asked at this time that the ordinance <br />remain tabled until further information is received and <br />since there is no time limit constraint on this item. <br /> <br />The City Manager indicated that this item could be held for <br />a workshop and have someone present at that time to answer <br />questions and concerns of Council. <br /> <br />Councilperson Waters then returned to the Council table. <br /> <br />At this time, the Mayor asked the City Secretary to read a <br />letter from Carrington Weems that should have been <br />
