Minutes, Public Hearings and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />January 11, 1988, Page 11 <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Shipp, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />22. Administrative Reports <br />The City Manager gave Council a list of proposed names for <br />the street in front of Sylvan Beach Convention Center, and <br />asked Council to choose a name. Their decision will be <br />addressed at a future Council meeting. <br />Police Chief Charles Smith presented a report on the Dupont <br />leak incident. Dupont Plant Manager Bob Porter and Al <br />Moomaw of Dupont also reported on the incident and steps <br />that are being taken to repair the equipment. <br />The City Manager asked Council to consider reinstituting <br />the Airport Advisory Board, as he feels that it would <br />greatly benefit the City and staff cannot provide enough <br />quality time to the airport to make it the kind of facility <br />that it has the potential to become. <br />Mr. Herrera also announced that there will be a workshop <br />meeting with Commissioner Jim Fonteno on January 13, to be <br />held at 6:00 P.M. at Sylvan Beach Convention Center. Plans <br />are to discuss various County/City projects. <br />23. Council Action: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, <br />Porter, Shipp, Skelton and Mayor Malone brought items to <br />Council's attention. <br />Mr. Herrera handed out booklets on the Disaster Warning <br />System for Council's review. <br />24. Council adjourned into executive session at 8:53 P.M. to <br />discuss the following: Legal - Report from City Attorney <br />on Laurie Engleke lawsuit; Legal - Discuss with City <br />Attorney patent matters on wave machine for Little Cedar <br />Bayou Park; Conference - Receive information from City <br />Manager regarding La Porte Independent School District use <br />of Sylvan Beach Convention Center. Council returned to the <br />Council table at 9:57 P.M. <br />
