Council considered an ordinance closing streets and alleys <br />for Barbour's Cut Imports, Inc. <br />Mr. Ed Hearon, Barbour's Cut Imports, addressed Council <br />regarding this item, outlining the property in question. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1577 - AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING CERTAIN ALLEYS, AND <br />PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS, IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Ordinance <br />15537 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Skelton. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, <br />Shipp, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Mr. Hearon presented the City a certified check in the <br />amount of $48,916.80. <br />15. Council considered a resolution authorizing change in <br />signatory agent for Texas Water Development Board Grant <br />Project. <br />The City Manager explained to Council that this was a <br />formal change in order to have a current signature for <br />Texas Water Development Board Grant projects. <br />The City Attorney read Resolution 88-1, which appoints <br />Robert T. Herrera, City Manager of the City of La Porte, as <br />signatory agent of the City of La Porte, to sign any <br />applications under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Resolution <br />88-1. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, <br />8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
