<br />e e <br />The Light <br />~!o~~n~~w!____._ h_.._.____!:_~:_~()~_5.~~._ Seabrook, _Te~~_~?5~~_j?13) 474-4151 <br />November 23, 1988 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of La Porte <br />Post Office Box 1115 <br />La Porte, Texas 77571 <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Malone and City Council: <br /> <br />Houston Lighting & Power proposes to adjust its rate <br />schedules, in accordance with the attached rate filing package. <br />The reasons for this rate adjustment are to reflect changes in <br />the Company's operating expenses and capital costs, which are <br />largely attributable to the commercial operation of two new <br />generating facilities, the South Texas Project Unit 1 and the <br />Limestone Electric Generating Station Unit 2. <br /> <br />Ye are including with this letter a Petition for Authority <br />to Change Rates, the proposed revised rate schedules for the <br />Company's. tariff, and supporting testimony which has also been <br />filed today with the Public Ut~ity Commission of Texas and <br />other municipalities served by the Company. We have requested <br />that the new rates become effective on December 29, 1988, and <br />apply to all service taken by each customer on or after that <br />date. The rate changes sought in each municipality and in the <br />area under the original jurisdiction of the Public Utility <br />Commission are uniform for each customer class throughout the <br />Company's service area. <br /> <br />Ye believe this rate adjustment is in the best interest of <br />both the Company and the customers and communities we serve.
