• <br />Minutes, Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council <br />March 13, 1989, Page 3 <br />and Regular Meeting <br />MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED A SUM OF NOT <br />MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00) FOR EACH VIOLATION; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Ordinance <br />1501-H with the corrections as recommended by Council. Second <br />by Councilperson Cooper. The motion carried, 5 ayes, 0 nays <br />and 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Skelton <br />8. Council considered an ordinance adopting revised City of La <br />Porte Electric Code. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1637 - AN ORDINANCE <br />ADOPTING A NEW ELECTRICAL CODE FOR THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1254, TOGETHER WITH AMENDMENTS TO <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1254-A THROUGH B INCLUSIVE; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />THE ADOPTION OF THE 1987 VERSION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC <br />CODE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAWS; <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON <br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE GUILTY OF A <br />MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION THEREOF SHALL BE FINED IN ANY <br />SUM NOT MORE THAT TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) PER <br />OCCURRENCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1637 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 4 ayes, 1 nay and 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Skelton and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Shipp <br />Abstain: Councilperson Porter <br />Before the vote was taken, Councilperson Shipp expressed his <br />opposition to General Provisions 1.02. <br />9. Council considered an ordinance approving a Dual Usage <br />Agreement between the City of La Porte and Harris County Flood <br />Control District. <br />
