<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Minutes, Public Hearings and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />August 16, 1989, Page 2 <br /> <br />After several questions from Council had been addressed, the <br />Mayor called for public input in favor of the rezoning. Mr. <br />Tom Randolph, of Fish Engineering, addressed Council in favor <br />of the rezoning. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked for public input in opposition to the <br />rezon1ng. No one came forward. The recommendation of the <br />Planning and Zoning commission was given, which was to approve <br />the. rezoning. There being no further input, the Mayor <br />declared Public Hearing A closed. <br /> <br />The Mayor called Public Hearing B to order - Request of Bay <br />Area Reclaiming for a special conditional use permit to allow <br />development of recycling center/salvage yard on 1.32 acres of <br />an 18.7766 acre tract of the Enoch Brinson Survey, Abstract <br />5. <br /> <br />Director of Community Development Joel Albrecht reviewed the <br />request. <br /> <br />The Mayor called for public input either pro or con. No one <br />came forward. Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation <br />was read, which was to approve the special conditional use <br />permit. The Mayor declared Public Hearing B closed. <br /> <br />6. The following citizens addressed Council: <br /> <br />Spero Pomonis, 218 Bay Colony Circle - Thanked the City for <br />its prompt clean up in his area of storm debris, and asked <br />that thanks be conveyed to the clean up crews. He also asked <br />that the Code Enforcement division enforce all of the weed <br />ordinance, not just the 18" requirement for height of weeds. <br /> <br />Lou Lawler, 1400 N. 10th - Thanked the City, Steve Gillett in <br />particular, for the clean up after the storm. She had <br />witnessed one of the preparedness meetings and had nothing but <br />praise for the department heads and their preparation for the <br />hurricane. <br /> <br />Charlie Young, 214 Reynolds - Spoke regarding a pending <br />request to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a tank truck <br />cleaning facility, and asked that Council consider not <br />allowing any more of this type business. <br /> <br />Terri Burton, 905 Shadow Creek, addressed Council regarding <br />the Myrtle Creek traffic problem and the seemingly <br />inconsistent traffic study report. She pointed out to Council <br />several examples of this. She is concerned with what can be <br />done to alleviate the traffic problems. <br />
