Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article <br />2, sections 25-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La <br />Porte; for the purpose of designating maximum speed limits and <br />a school zone on Myrtle Creek, from West Main Street (also <br />known as Spender Highway) to Sugar Creek within the City of <br />La Porte. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1466-A - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE 2, SECTIONS 25-23 OF THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />DESIGNATING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS AND A SCHOOL ZONE ON MYRTLE <br />CREEK, FROM WEST MAIN STREET (ALSO KNOWN AS SPENCER HIGHWAY) <br />TO SUGAR CREEK WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN <br />A SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by CouncilDerson Gay to adoDt Ordinance 1466- <br />A as read by the city Attorney. There <br />were no other nominations. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1658 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS MAYOR PRO <br />TEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE TERM AUGUST 14, 1989, <br />UNTIL MAY 31, 1990; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
