Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing <br />contract by and between City of La Porte and BFI Solid Waste <br />Systems, Inc., for collection and disposal of commercial solid <br />waste. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1730 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE AND BFI WASTE SYSTEMS, INC., FOR COLLECTION AND <br />DISPOSAL OF COMMERCIAL SOLID WASTE; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1730 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, <br />Porter, Gay, Skelton and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: Councilperson Matuszak <br />14. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract by and between City of La Porte and Landmark <br />Structures, Inc., for construction of Northwest elevated water <br />storage tank. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1731 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE AND LANDMARK STRUCTURES, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION <br />OF THE NORTHWEST ELEVATED WATER STORAGE TANK; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to adopt Ordinance 1731 <br />as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />15. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract by and between the City of La Porte and McKey <br />Construction & Equipment, Inc., for Northwest La Porte water <br />project . <br />
