1 <br />• • <br />2. Biddin~Phase <br />o Review the qualifications of Contractors desiring to become <br />pre-qualified bidders for the project. Provide a report of the <br />findings of the qualifications review to the City of La Porte <br />with recommendations as to contractors apparent qualifications. <br />o Conduct the construction pre-bid conference. <br />o Answer questions of a design nature for bidders prior to the bid <br />opening. Coordinate with the City of La Porte in the <br />implementation of this task. <br />o Coordinate with the City of La Porte to insure consistency during <br />the bidding phase. <br />o Assist the City of La Porte in obtaining bids for the project. <br />o Attend the bid opening. <br />o Review and evaluate the bids. <br />o Provide the City of La Porte .with an evaluation of the bids and <br />of the apparent low bidder and advise the City of La Porte as to <br />the acceptability of the apparent low bidder. <br />3. Construction Phase <br />o Conduct the pre-construction conference. <br />o Act as the City's representative during the construction phase. <br />o Review and respond accordingly to all submittals as required by <br />the contract documents. The review shall be only for compliance <br />with the design concept of the Project and compliance with the <br />information given in the Contract Documents (but such review and <br />approval or other action shall not extend to means, methods, <br />sequences, techniques or procedures of construction or to safety <br />precautions and programs incident hereto). <br />o Review the contractors pay estimates, evaluate the completion of <br />work and make payment recommendations to the City of La Porte. <br />o Make visits to the site at intervals appropriate to the various <br />stages of construction to observe as an experienced and qualified <br />design professional the progress and quality of the executed work <br />of the Contractor(s). CMI shall not be required to make <br />exhaustive or continuous on site inspection to check the quality <br />or quantity of such work. CMI shall not be responsible for the <br />means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures of <br />construction selected by the Contractor(s) or the safety <br />precautions and programs incident to the work of the <br />
