Called Council's attention to the recycling effort of the <br />Parks Department regarding using discarded Christmas <br />trees as bark mulch for park trails. <br />E. Announced a meeting on January 22 at 7:00 P.M. at Jennie <br />Reid School regarding Houston Chemical Services. <br />17. Council Action: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone brought <br />items to Council's attention. <br />18. Council adjourned into executive session at 7:22 P.M. <br />regarding the following items: (A) Legal - Discuss Lonnie <br />Taylor dba Preferred Pool Plastering vs the City of La Porte, <br />et al, with City Attorney; (B) Personnel - Discuss "Pay for <br />Performance" booklet; (C) Personnel - Discuss appointments to <br />Redistricting Committee; (D) Personnel - Complete review of <br />City Manager; (E) Conference - Receive report from City <br />Manager on status of hotel study for City of La Porte. <br />Council returned to the table at 9:00 P.M. <br />Item A, no action taken; item B, discussion only; item C, will <br />address item 8; item D, discussed and corrected an oversight <br />of payment; item E, no action. <br />Council then addressed item 8 - Consider ordinance appointing <br />a re-districting committee. <br />The Mayor read: ORDINANCE 1738 - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A <br />RE-DISTRICTING COMMITTEE, AND ESTABLISHING ITS POWERS AND <br />DUTIES; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />The following citizens were named to the re-districting <br />committee: Chairman, H. P. Pfeiffer; District 1, Betty <br />Waters; District 2, Russell Ybarra; District 3, Jimmie Ray <br />Spradling; District 4, Robert Daniel; District 5, Robert <br />Swanagan; District 6, Bob Capen; At Large Position A, Paul <br />Felgner; At Large Position B, Brenda Villareal. <br />Motion was made by Councilnerson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1738 as read. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion <br />carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
