MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 28, 1991 1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry Clarke Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Ed Matuszak Members of Citv Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Director of Community Development Joel Albrecht, City Engineer Bill Manning Others Present: 15 citizens 2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Clarke. 3. Council considered approving the minutes of the called regular meeting held January 10, 1991. Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the minutes of January 10 as presented. Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays (Councilperson Gay was away from the table). Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 4. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular meeting held January 14, 1991. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the minutes of January 14 as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays (Councilperson Gay was away from the table). Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 5. The Mayor proclaimed the month of February as American History Month, and proclaimed February 25 as "La Porte Night at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo." Ten members of the La Porte/Harris County Go Texan Committee were in attendance to accept the La Porte Night proclamation.
