Council considered a resolution approving continued <br />participation in the Telephone Franchise Steering Committee <br />and approving a one-time payment of one cent per capita. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 91-10 - A RESOLUTION OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, APPROVING <br />CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE TELEPHONE FRANCHISE STEERING <br />COMMITTEE AND APPROVING A ONE-TIME PAYMENT OF ONE CENT PER <br />CAPITA (.01) OR TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE DOLLARS AND TEN CENTS <br />($279.10); FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve Resolution <br />91-10 as read by the city Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays (councilperson <br />Cooper had left the Council table in order to deliver a copy <br />of Resolution 91-09 to the office of Jim Fonteno). <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />CouncilpersonsSutherland, Thrower, Porter, Skelton, <br />Clarke and Mayor Pro Tern McLaughlin <br />None <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />14. Council considered authorization to proceed on dangerous <br />buildings. <br /> <br />A video presentation was made by Inspector Mark Lewis, showing <br />17 buildings that had been deemed dangerous by the Inspection <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to authorize the <br />Inspection Department to proceed on danqerous buildinqs and <br />to' call a public hearinq on July 22 in this reqard. Second <br />by Councilperson Thrower. The item to consider approving a contract for engineering <br />services from Bill Manning was removed from the agenda pending <br />further clarification. <br /> <br />16. Council considered awarding a contract for reconstruction of <br />curbs and sidewalks and construction of wheelchair ramps on <br />Main Street between Broadway and Second Street. <br />
